And I’ll sigh “at last”. Only New Year is left, and it won’t be as bad as the Christmas series of family-dinners.

It’s weird, but this year, I don’t enjoyed the whole food part. Oh, it was good and well-cooked, no doubt with that, but… It just didn’t appeal to me. Not even the chocolate desserts and cookies. As a result, I dabbled in my dishes more than I really ate. I barely drank as well. All I wanted was to be with people, and eating really got the backburner. There was no point in that, no interest for the food whatsoever. I couldn’t care less.

Of course, I won’t pretend that I ate “well”, since it was very likely still more than what I should eat daily, but I was far from the 4,000 calories-a-day or so that I dreaded to reach in the beginning. It could have been worse, much more worse. Not even once did I leave the table feeling full to the point of being uncomfortable, contrary to what used to happen the previous years.

Indeed, that’s very weird.

The not-so-good thing was that I didn’t exercise in the mornings to compensate for the extra food, like I had planned to do, for the simple reason that, as usual on Christmas holidays, I was sick. Not that it would have changed much, though; too many things to do and stress with anyway, I’m not sure I’d had done it even if in good health.

It’s a tough time of year. I think I did OK at the parties but it was the gifts of chocolate I brought home that were the hard part.

Aye, these gifts can be awful, it’s even harder to throw them away in order to not be tempted… since they’re gifts! I’m really glad that nobody gave me any this year. The only “sugary” stuff I got was two nice little Speculoos that came with a box of different teas, and I kept these for breakfast, so now they’re gone, period.

All in all, I think that as long as we don’t GAIN on weight in that period of the year, it’s already a good thing. Hoping in a weight loss around Christmas would just be crazy :)
